The Illenium project was an ambitious undertaking in which I had the opportunity to be the art director. With my 2D&3D skills and knowledge, I led a team of 10 artists across different departments, such as modeling, texturing, sculpting, shading, 2D concept art and environment composition. I was responsible for overseeing the entire artistic direction and managing the team's progress, from initial concepts to the final creation of characters and scenery.
chARACTER DESIGN
I designed all the main characters for the short film, focusing more on the main ones: One of them is Ash, a spirited girl belonging to a segregated society in the mountains whose ancestors were devoted to the Phoenix. I aimed to reflect her rebellious nature while also showcasing her cultural heritage through patterns, textures, and colors inspired by Islamic and Indian traditions.
On the other hand, we have Nick, a soldier hailing from the city of Talmozed. He is entranced and addicted to a substance that has plunged his world into decay. Drawing inspiration from the artist Illenium, I sought to depict Nick as a character dressed in contemporary attire yet reflecting a sense of decadence. The focal points were graffiti, grime, and neon elements, conveying a modern but deteriorated aesthetic.
